Ground-breaking technology

Technology. Applied.
Nthalpy has exclusive access to TuboClaw® compressor technology to provide solutions for many of industry’s demanding applications, including, but not limited to:

• Steam boosting
• Steam storage (Enhanced accumulator)
• Flash steam recovery
• Water treatment
• Aqueous waste and effluent treatment, concentration and recovery
• High temperature heat pumps
• High efficiency evaporators and driers
• Steam-only reciprocating CHP

TurboClaw®

TurboClaw®is a novel type of turbo-compressor, specifically developed for low-volumetric flow applications. It shares the benefits of conventional turbo-compressors – high efficiency, oil-free compression, low parts-count and maintenance – yet operates with lower tip-speeds.
This, along with its ‘2D’ impeller geometry and optimal performance at low volumetric-flow, makes for a simple, robust and ultimately superior alternative to piston, scroll and screw compressors in many industrial-scale applications.

Tailoring the right solution
Nthalpy’s solutions are designed based on the heat-source temperature, the required temperature lift and the heat recovery rate, which determine respectively; the recovery medium (refrigerant or steam), the number of compression stages and their speed, and the size and power of the compressor. As no two applications are identical, Nthalpy can carry out an engineering application review to identify and tailor the right solution for your process needs. Solutions can be designed to be retrofitted to existing installations, installed as part of a new process solution by Nthalpy, or integrated into new OEM equipment though partnership arrangements.

Cost effective heat recovery
Harnesing the recent advances in high-temperature refrigerants and the excellent properties of water, Nthalpy’s high temperature heat pumps can recover heat streams as low as 60°C and deliver recovered heat up to 200°C. The recovered heat can be delivered as steam, pressurised hot water, or into a thermal fluid, with a “Coefficient of Performance (COP)* of between 6 and 60 depending on the pressure/temperature ratio required. A typical solution will operate at a COP of 12, which means heat can be recovered at a fraction of the price of the generating it from fossil fuels and conventional boiler systems. Associated savings are 74% compared to natural gas, 87% compared to fuel-oil, or 97% compared to electricity *

*COP is a ratio of electrical energy in, to the thermal Energy recovered
**Savings based on a recovery COP of 12, Electricity price of £0.09/kWh, Gas cost of £0.025/kWh, fuel oil cost at £0.05/kWh. Boiler efficiency 85% @GCV
